Parenting Tips For Good Kids

Good Kids, Bad Kids; what is the difference? For one thing, good kids are sensitive and compassionate while bad kids are stubborn, undisciplined, and manipulative. Four overachievers, now eager to erase their college labels, set out on a mission to remake themselves after graduation. The results can be explosive.

Every kid has a dream. That is one important thing to remember about good kids. They have dreams that reach beyond their present goals. They have the courage to try new things because they know they will learn something valuable from doing so.

A second important thing to keep in mind is to understand your kid. Bad kids have one thing in common with good kids: stubbornness. Unless you are able to convince your kid that what you want is good for him or her, no amount of parenting tips will help. Instead, you should let your kid convince you with his or her actions. You should show your kid that you support what he or she is doing.

A third important thing is to make sure that your kids are growing physically, mentally, and spiritually. This means that you have to provide them with activities and places of their choice. In the literal meaning, if you don’t give your child something nice to do, you are not giving him something nice to be. As the famous American author Robert Kiyosaki once said, “It’s not what you do, it’s what you don’t do.” Kids need to be given something special.

A fourth key parenting tip for successful kids is prioritizing. In a nutshell, this means setting a limit on what your kids can do and allowing them to fail. You cannot spend your time and money raising a spoiled kid who thinks he is always right. On the other hand, a good parent will allow his kid to learn from his mistakes, but he won’t spend his own time and money raising a spoiled kid who thinks that he is always right. Kids need to understand that they don’t become better people by simply doing good deeds.

Fifth among the key parenting tips for being a good parent is to find time for your kids even when you are doing something else. You cannot force your kids to find time for themselves. However, by being a doting, considerate and generous parent you will find yourself finding time to be with your kids.

Another important parenting tip is to start using rewards and consequences. Rewards are a form of bribery, which basically means rewarding your kid when he or she performs good behavior. For example, if your kid starts using good behavior could make your child feel special, and thus rewards could make your kid start using these behaviors more often.

Sixth among the key parenting tips for being a good parent is to take your kids for granted. Kids don’t think so because they don’t see any reason to do something for you every day. As their parent, you should be their everyday hero. That’s why it’s a bad idea to buy them everything they want, to be perfect in front of their parents. Kids won’t respect you and won’t follow your everyday wishes if you are always buying them gifts.

Lastly, be prepared for your kid’s attitude to change. This is because your kid’s attitude may have been influenced by his environment and by the surrounding he finds himself in. For example, if there are a lot of fights between your family members, your kid will most probably develop a bad attitude towards his brothers and sisters. On the other hand, if you are always with him every day and provide support, your kid will tend to feel secured and he will tend to behave better.

It’s true that we can’t control our kids’ everyday actions, but at the same time, we can’t ignore them either. So, you should always be sensitive to your kids’ needs and wants. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that all your kids would appreciate a particular action if you give it to them. What works for one might not work for the other.

Final Words

If you think these tips would help you in raising good kids, then get ready to parent your kids. Kids need constant guidance and structure so that they don’t act without thinking for their own selves. As their parent, you should also be guided by the same principle so that you are able to raise great kids. After all, this is what parenting really is about.
